Alex M. Mercado, MD, is honored to be the physician of choice for many men and women from in and around Flanders, New Jersey. After more than 20 years in practice as a board-certified internist, Dr. Mercado has amassed an impressive body of skills and accomplishments. That expertise has helped him build a thriving practice that changes lives for the better.
Dr. Mercado is currently in private practice as a Primary Care Partners affiliate. His practice is founded on a commitment to providing compassionate, individualized care in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
His office is conveniently located in the Flanders Professional Building on Route 206 in Flanders. The office is handicap accessible and is open six days a week, with some evening hours. Patients can find Dr. Mercado in the directory of most major health plans; he even accepts patients with Medicare.
Dr. Mercado began his education at New York University in New York City. After earning his undergraduate degree in biology in 1989, he went on to study medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. His next step was a residency in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center.
Among Dr. Mercado’s achievements are the Eagle Scout award, Phi Beta Kappa membership, and the New York University Founders’ Day Award. He has held leadership roles at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center for six years and is currently a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
